About Us
Building Services Commissioning Ltd is an established specialist commissioning company based in Lincolnshire. We provide independent testing, balancing, commissioning and verification services within the HVAC building services industry.
Our work is predominantly within the commercial and industrial sectors, working on projects where heating, cooling and ventilation systems have been installed by other contractors.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Commissioning Engineer / Trainee Commissioning Engineer to join our enthusiastic and experienced team.
The Role
The successful candidate will work alongside our experienced commissioning engineers, assisting with the testing, balancing and commissioning of heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
The role will involve travelling to a variety of commercial and industrial sites, carrying out measurements and testing, adjusting systems to achieve the required performance and recording results accurately.
Previous commissioning experience is not essential, as full training will be provided for the right candidate. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a long-term career within the HVAC and building services industry.
As your knowledge and experience develop, you will be given increasing responsibility and the opportunity to work towards becoming a fully competent commissioning engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting commissioning engineers with the testing and balancing of HVAC systems
- Testing and balancing heating, cooling and ventilation systems
- Carrying out airflow and water flow measurements
- Assisting with the adjustment and balancing of systems to achieve design requirements
- Taking accurate measurements and recording results
- Using specialist testing and commissioning equipment
- Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications and design information
- Identifying issues with system performance and assisting with troubleshooting
- Completing commissioning sheets, reports and other project documentation
- Working alongside contractors and other site personnel
- Maintaining a professional approach when working on client sites
- Following company and site health and safety procedures
- Travelling to commercial and industrial sites throughout the region and further afield as required
About You
We are looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking, practical and keen to learn.
Previous experience within commissioning or HVAC is not essential. We are happy to consider someone at the beginning of their career who has the right attitude and aptitude, as well as candidates with existing experience who are looking to develop their career further.
The Successful Candidate Will Ideally Have:
- A full, clean UK driving licence
- A minimum of Grade 4/C in GCSE Maths and English, or equivalent
- A good general standard of education
Some basic mechanical knowledge or an interest in mechanical engineering would be advantageous
- A willingness to learn and develop technical skills
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- A practical and methodical approach to problem-solving
- Good communication skills
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- A reliable and positive attitude towards work
- The confidence to ask questions and learn from experienced engineers
- A professional approach when working with clients and contractors
- A strong awareness of health and safety
Experience & Qualifications
Previous experience is not essential.
Previous experience in HVAC, mechanical engineering, building services, commissioning, plumbing or a related field would be advantageous, as would relevant technical qualifications or an apprenticeship.
However, we are primarily looking for someone with the right attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn. Full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
